What makes this hotel special is the attention to detail (everything is 100% harmonious, designed with passion, etc.), as well as the warmth of the owner and staff. The food, service, and ambiance are excellent. The wellness area is small but beautiful, and since some rooms are equipped with a sauna, it is more than sufficient. We booked a room with a sauna, which was absolutely worth the price. Yoga classes were available every morning and evening—very small groups with skilled yoga instructors. All in all, it’s a beautiful new hotel—an old building lovingly renovated and redesigned with modern elements—with first-class service, ambiance, spirit, and a very special atmosphere. A true hideaway
From Fanny's first welcome to our departure, it was an exceptional feel-good stay. The tasteful, cozy rooms in lovingly renovated old buildings are well complemented by modern extensions. Days at the Refugium begin with relaxing yoga and a sumptuous served breakfast. Christian's kitchen offers culinary delights, whether with classic pub dishes or fusion twists. What a fantastic hotel!
Everything about Hotel Refugium was exceptional, from the moment I arrived tired from long travels and was immediately offered a cold drink. The room was spacious and well laid out. The view from the balcony over the river and the mountains was very relaxing. Breakfast was great with fresh squeezed orange juice and local foods. Advent Weekend for Two at the Refugium
First of all, the extremely friendly welcome from hostess Stefanie Metzger! The building structure and room comfort are all of the highest standards. A cozy atmosphere instantly envelops you in deep relaxation. The location and the nearby Lunz Lake, which you can wonderfully walk around, contribute to this. As one description puts it, it’s ‘one of the darkest places in Austria’ – indeed, there is no light pollution! The dinner prepared by Chef Christian Metzger was world-class: a wonderfully fresh roast goose with all the delicious sides, and a lamb crown that melted in your mouth, so tender... Before that, a beef tartare, not your usual fare... a Lunzer Roll with delightful salmon trout, a kind of summer roll à la Refugium Lunz. Simple great!
Relaxing! Nice very well maintained Hotel. Fancy dinner, nice beakfast, beautiful view to the river.... This is really relaxing place. Spa area small but elegant, hopfuly the construction work will be finished in the neigborhood very soon... The village itself nice clean and calm, nice walks and bike tour possibilities in the region. realy good, I can only recommend it! Monday night was pretty funny: the maxi bar a self service - of course for a fee- was great! way beeter than a minibar.
